Kyoto Nepal Charity Walk Auction--Bizen Vase by Isezaki Mitsuru
On May 31st a most benevolent group of Kyoto walkers will walk 10km in their annual charity event that has raised a lot of needed money for many in need over the years, and this year's focus of funds will be Nepal; blankets, food, medicine, solar cookers, etc. On that day I cannot walk yet want to contribute and thus this auction for Isezaki Mitsuru's tsurukubi-crane's neck vase. Rising tall from the 'earth' the narrow neck signifies hope and promise, and that one flower placed within is a single song of the Divine. To the highest bidder this will go and all proceeds will be donated to the charity. If you'd like to sponsor a walker without bidding please let me know. Please email Robert with your bid that will be reflected in the price box if any place bids, which I hope you shall---it's a very worthy cause and these Kyoto walkers are a stellar bunch with hearts of gold. (There is not a more elegant form in all of Bizen than the bulbous-bodied-long-neck crane's neck vase, it's quiet aura is very poetical. The late Isezaki Mitsuru (1934-2011) was not only an Okayama Important Cultural Treasure, he was also a haiku poet and thus he understand more then most the poetical 'simplicity' of a tsurukubi. In the ancient past these were used to pour sake from--and they still can be--yet are now more often used as a one flower vase. The burnt-straw markings are impressionistic and flow over the form with style and grace. In perfect condition with a signed box, 23.5cm.tall, signed on base.)
