Large Tokoname Ash-Glazed Charger by Takeuchi Kimiaki
If you do a Google search for Takeuchi Kimiaki(1948-2011) one of the top listings is for a dish in the collection of the Victora and Albert Museum. You'll also discover his pieces in the Brooklyn and Metropolitan Museums in New York. Takeuchi was a very fine ceramic artist, and I'm saddened to write 'was' as his wife called me a few weeks ago to say he had left us; she gave no reason why. As many know Takeuchi was a Tokonome potter who studied under Ezaki Issei(1918-1992) and had a sterling career with many awards and successful exhibitions over the decades. This is a museum quality Takeuchi charger with his signature ash-glazing, in perfect condition, 8.8cm.tallx47, signed on base, no box.
