Vase-Tokkuri / Bizen / Bizen / Mori Togaku
Bizen Vase-Tokkuri by Mori Togaku, 1971
Here is a circa 1971 Bizen full rakkyo (pearl onion form vase-tokkuri) by Mori Togaku(b.1937). It has a Ko-Bizen (Old Bizen) aura about it with a shibui firing indeed; the reddish-purple 'clay flavor' is superb as well as the fuse-yaki, where another piece was placed upside down over the neck, inside was straw, which has burned off in deep reddish streaks and patches; some goma can be seen near the base. A rare work in perfect condition with a signed box, 24cm.tallx16cm.wide at center, signed on base, EMS included. Mori is a living legend with works in major museum collections; more about him can be read at www.e-yakimono.net (Isezakli Taku's masu-sake cups are boxed at 12 and 16,000 yen)
