Vase / Ash-Glazed / Mashiko / Matsuzaki Ken
Yohen Ash-Glazed 'Vase by Matsuzaki Ken
Here is a twisting torso form that changes with every slight turn; the contrast of 'clay flavor' and ash glazing is very engaging and was created from a multi-day firing in Matsuzaki Ken's(b.1950) climbing chambered kiln. As many know Matsuzaki is a Mashiko-based potter creating works in various styles after studying in Mashiko with the late Living National Treasure Shimaoka Tatsuzo. This vase was shown at a recent Tokyo exhibition and is shown in the catalog, of which one will be included with the work, as well as with the other works shown in the preview photos, additional photos of those on request. In perfect condition with a signed box, 26cm.tallx13, signed on base. Lastly, it was also shown in a Ministry of Foreign Affairs short film about art in Japan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUcXROYc8fE&feature=BFa&list=UUooFm-JPL0IcKDk1g3B2Zow&lf=plpp_video
