Bizen Tokkuri-Sake Flask by Kaneshige Michiaki
Kaneshige Michiaki (1934-1995) was the first son of the legendary Toyo and helped his father for many years, including visits by Rosanjin, Noguchi and many, many of Japan's most famous potters of the 20th century that went to the Kaneshige kiln to create works. Michiaki was an outstanding Bizen potter in his own right having won the Japan Ceramic Society Award in 1979 and also being designated an Okayama Prefectural Intangible Property in 1990; he had a illustrious exhibition career. This triangular-high-shouldered tokkuri dates to 1978 and is very shibui indeed; it fits snuggly in the hand, where one can admire the 'mini-rainbow' over the front. In perfect condition with a signed box, 12.5cm.tall, stamped on base.
