Guinomi and Tokkuri / Ohi / Kanazawa / Ohi Chozaemon X
Ohi Sake Set by Ohi Chozaemon X
One of the most pleasing glazes in all of Japan is called ame-yu (caramel-toned) and it's the specialty of the celebrated Ohi family based in Kanazawa city, Ishikawa prefecture. This sake set was made by Ohi Chozaemon X (b.1927) who has had a very illustrious career to say the least. The gourd-shaped tokkuri is and of itself a lucky form and to make sure all know that Ohi incised the kanji fuku or luck on the front. The guinomi-sake cup has a cream-toned interior with the kanji kotobuki (ju) or long life incised; together the set is called Fukuju or long life and happiness. In perfect condition with a single signed box, the tokkuri is 16.5cm.tall and the guinomi is 4.1cm.tallx7.5; both stamped on base.
