Bizen Wide-Mouthed 'Flower Vessel' by Miyao Masahiro
As many know one of the more exciting younger Bizen ceramic artists about today is Miyao Masahiro; more about him can be read in our archives or in other listings. This is a recently fired work that was situated in a prime spot in Miyao's climbing chamber kiln; this location in the kiln is ripe for delicious golden brown goma that is stunning on the front of this work. It flowed down to the applied pine ash bottom part to create a most attractive front. The sides and back display a rich rice paddy iron-rich 'clay flavor' in purple tones; the meandering three bands accentuate the entire form. In perfect condition with a signed box, 35cm.tallx24, signed on base.
