Aizu-Hongo and Oribe Vessels
Here are two older pieces in dating to the early 20th century and 19th century; for Japan though that's not really that old at all. Anyway, the first is a ame-yu caramel glazed nisshin-bachi or pickled herring 'dish' made at the Aizu-Hongo kiln in Fukushima prefecture and dates to the 19th century. A lovely mingei ware in fine condition, a few nicks on the lip, 7cm.tallx17.5x10.8 and is 18,000 yen; the Oribe square vessel is by Kato SakusukeII (1844-1923) and is also a fine example of turn-of-the-century Oribe from this celebrated Seto potting family. In perfect condition with an old signed box, 8cm.tallx19, signed on base and is On Reserve.
