Large Bizen Platter by Kaneshige Makoto
Deep grooves circle the entire circumference of this bold Bizen platter by Kaneshige Makoto(b.1945). It sits high on three angled legs and is a powerful statement alone or awaits a smorgasbord of tasty delights. It was fired near the kiln opening and thus accumulated a nice goma-natural ash-glaze 'sesame' covering; the heat was intense and there are a few superficial firing cracks that only add to the profound earthiness of the work. Kaneshige is the first son of the late Sozan, and his uncle is the late Toyo, brother is Yuho. In perfect condition with a signed box,10cm.tallx43.5cm., signed on base.
