Colored-Stone Inlay Work by Kishi Eiko
Kishi Eiko(b.1948) is an extremely popular contemporary Japanese ceramist, well known for her Saiseki-zogan (colored-stone inlay) works; her works are in museums worldwide and also in important private collections. Her saiseki-zogan are Incredibly delicate patterns that appear as almost stitched into the clay. Kishi's saiseki-zogan process involves mixing colored pigments into the Shigaraki clay and then forming it into her desired shape. Then a design is etched out with a very hard needle and pigments, and clay or glazes are then applied again. The results are outstanding with yellows, reds, greens, blues and whites weaving around the works in fanciful colored bands. Here is a rare circa 1994 Kishi work in perfect condition, 21cm.tallx57x11, signed box.
