Mumyoi Yunomi Pair by Ito Sekisui Kiln
Ito Sekisui(b.1941) became the fifth Sekisui in 1977--and was designated a Living National Treasure in 2003 for his mumyoi pottery--and his family started potting on Sado Island in the 17th century. They use a local red clay and thus the color of the wares. Here is a meoto--his and hers--yunomi pair depicting a traditional landscape scene with a lone fisherman in his boat. In perfect condition with a signed box, 7.5cm.tall and 8.3cm.tall; dating back about twenty years and a kiln set.
