Shigaraki Guinomi by Mori Togaku
Here is a very rare Shigaraki by Bizen's living legend--and Okayama Prefecture Intangible Cultural Property--Mori Togaku(b.1937). Occasionally potters visit different studios and fire styles different from their own; Arakawa Toyozo comes to mind with his rare Bizen works fired at the Kaneshige kiln. This Shigaraki guinomi is light in firing and weight, with the 'clay flavor' surely to change over time with use. Some ash is on the inner walls and in the pool along with a 'blushing' fire tone. The lip is also a place of note as is the kodai foot. In perfect condition with a signed box, 4.5cm.tallx6, signed on base. The last time Robert saw such a piece was about 20 years ago at the now defunct Bizen Togeikurabu Gallery in Bizen.
