Bizen Tsubo-Jar by Ishino Taizo
This Bizen tsubo-jar breathes tsuuuu-booooh; the classic Bizen form and the firing is what attracted me to it as well; the crusty brownish-yellow goma natural ash-glazing and the rich purple-shiso lower tones all combine to create a very charming work. Nothing fancy in form, pure. It was made by veteran Bizen potter Ishino Taizo(b.1942) who after graduating from prestigious Waseda University worked for a major publisher before returning to his hometown next to Bizen in 1977. Ever since he's had a solid career of private exhibitions. This Ishino tsubo is perfect for flower arrangements or one thick branch. In perfect condition with a signed box, 22cm.tallx26, signed on base.
