Iga Vase by Atarashi Kanji
Atarashi Kanji (b.1944) is an Iga veteran who has been firing his anagama since 1975. His works are usually very powerful--like Tsujimura and Fujioka--and this triangular vase is a fine testament to that. It is meant to be used on its side, yet also looks quite nice standing. The green ash was applied and drips down over all sides nicely contrasting with the warm textured rusty orange 'clay flavor.' In perfect condition with a signed box--the box is a bit old and soiled--dating back about 20 years, 38.cm.longx14x11.5 at widest point, signed on side.
