Bizen Guinomi-Sake Cup by LNT Fujiwara Kei
Bizen's second Living National Treasure was Fujiwara Kei(1899-1983); he was named a LNT in 1970. His love for sake is well-known and thus he made some of the finest sake vessels of the 20th century. Here is a classic Kei form for a guinomi with a bold-deeply carved foot-kodai and full round body with a deep 'pool.' The firing is hidasuki-rice straw orange-red flashed and thus on the lower end of the Bizen firing spectrum and thus a lower price than say a yohen firing. Nonetheless, a museum quality guinomi by one of Bizen's most important potters of all time, in perfect condition with a signed box, 5.5cm.tallx7, signed on side; kampai!
