Vase-Tokkuri / Minegishi Seiko
Celadon-Seiji Tokkuri-Vase by Minegishi Seiko
Minegishi Seiko(b.1952) creates some of the finest celadon ceramics--seiji--in Japan today. Thus his popularity keeps his very limited output--high loss rate--flying off the shelves at exhibitions here, when they occur. I called last week asking for some guinomi and was told I'll have to wait to autumn--if then at all--to receive new ones. In the meantime though he said I do have one very good tokkuri, the one you see here. A deep olive green crackled glaze glistens over the slightly faceted form; it's on the tall side and thus can also be used as a single bud vase; in perfect condition with a signed box, 15.8cm.tall, signed on base.
