Gold and Silver 'Pouch' by Tsuboi Asuka
Here is a rare and alluring ceramic pouch with silver braids by veteran ceramic artist Tsuboi Asuka(b.1932) Tsuboi is a major figure in the ceramic world here and is one of only a handful of leading women potters of her generation. She studied with Tomimoto Kenkichi and works in Kyoto. Her works are in major collections here in Japan and worldwide. This work is glazed in silver and gold and is made to look like a kinchaku pouch. The silvery braids accentuate the work in a very graceful feminine way. In perfect condition with a signed box, 17.3cm.tallx10cm, stamped on base; a past catalog will be included from the same period showing similar works, 1982.
