Takiguchi Kazuo
Mudai by Takiguchi Kazuo
Takiguchi Kazuo(b.1953) is one of the most interesting and important Kyoto ceramic artists of the past 20 years. His original forms (and deftly painted smaller works) have earned him a slew of awards and a large following here in Japan as well as around the world. This is a mudai--no title--work dating to 1990 with a subtle cloth texture under the warm and pleasing beige tone. It has Takiguchi's organic form--two are never alike--and stands in many positions on the studded plastic base.Pieces from this period rarely come to market. In perfect condition with a signed box, 33.5cm.tallx43.5x22.5. Takiguchi's was named one of the most important and popular artists in a past Honoho Geijutsu magazine poll and that list can be viewed at e-yakimono.net/html/honoho-rankings.html
