Iron-Glazed Vase by Sasaki Yuzuru
Sometimes the way the sunlight shines off the water of Suruga Bay reminds me of this mesmerizing iron-glazed vase by Sasaki Yuzuru (b.1949). Rippling like the waves and showing various shades of silver, dark blues and purples, the vase is shimmering and alive. With a flower arrangement....divine. In perfect condition with a signed box, 24cm.tallx10.3, stamped on base. Sasaki is a veteran potter who studied with iron-glaze specialist Kimura Morikzau from 1971-79; he established his own kiln in 1979. Tomorrow Robert will visit Miura Shurei......stay tuned.
