E-Karatsu Vase by Maruta Munehiko
Here is a very shibui yet animated eared painted Karatsu (E-(K)garatsu) by the very talented Maruta Munehiko; more about Maruta in our previous Maruta listing. There is nothing about this vase I do not like, from the relaxed form--not easy to do--, to the subtle reed design; and from the folded lip to the sturdy base, this vase is what Karatsu is all about. As with Harada's Bizen, Maruta's Karatsu has the spirit of old Karatsu works, yet still is alive and fresh and not mere copies. In perfect condition with a signed box, 24cm.tallx16.2x13.3, signed 'mu' on side.
