Kitaoji Rosanjin is one of the most important and influential Japanese artists of the 20th century, as most of you know. His work is highly valued in all areas he worked in; if you are not familiar with Rosanjin I suggest reading 'The Art of Rosanjin' by Sidney Cardozo or see e-yakimono.net This is a truly fantastic Shino chawan by Rosanjin that comes from a line connected to the famed Fukuda restaurant where Rosanjin often visited. It has a strong from and classic glazing along with Rosanjin's iron underglaze brush markings. The base shows a strong foot and fine clay. In perfect condition with a signed box, dating to the Showa 20s, 10cm.tallx12.5cm., serious inquiries only please.
