Bizen 'Stone Garden' Koro by Harada Shuroku
Bizen has a long history of saikumono ornamental figures and sculptures and Harada adds to the tradition with this lattice 'stone garden' koro incense burner. The two stones at the top are from Kyoto and remind one of the famous Ryoanji temple. A very intricate work and Harada told me he made only one as the detailed work involved was exhausting! There are two small firing cracks on the lid, and they almost blend into the design. In excellent condition,14cm.tallx9, signed on base, another Harada museum piece.
