Bizen Yohen Tokkuri by Takahara Satoshi
Bizen veteran potter Takahara Satoshi(b.1934) is known by hardcore Bizen fans for his 'softer-smoother' Bizen and interesting shapes in his 'clay flavor panels.' He started making Bizen in 1956 and has had a relatively quiet, yet very successful career. He has won the Sanyo Newspaper Award at the Okayama Prefectural Art Exhibition(1972) and the Kaneshige Toyo Award(1976). This is a very, very good sankaku-triangle tokkuri that displays Takahara's merits mentioned above. It was displayed at an Okayama Prefectural Bizen Association exhibition in the late 80s; the artist's history enclosed in the signed box dates to 1988, and the exhibition paper is also enclosed. In perfect condition, 13.6cm.tall, signed on base.
