Guinomi / Kawase Shinobu
Celadon Guinomi by Kawase Shinobu
Here is a very refined and elegant celadon guinomi by the master ceramic artist Kawase Shiobu. It is slightly ribbed under the glaze, yet no texture is felt only seen. Kawase made these after an old style that cannot stand alone and needs a 'rest' or simply held until empty. He made a special wooden stand and also provides a ring to use at the table. It's 3.5cm.tall and 5cm.across (7.5cm.tall w/base), signed box. More about Kawase in our archives or on e-yakimono.net; surely one of the greatest celadon potters Japan has ever seen.
