Oribe and Glazed Double-Block Sculpture Vases by Hatano Masanori
Hatano Masanori(b.1957) is a veteran Seto ceramic artist with a long exhibition career and various awards such as the Pottery Encouragement Prize at the Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition and Encouragement Prize at the Chunichi International Exhibition of Ceramic Arts in 1987, the Excellent Work Prize at the Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition in 2004 among others as well as being exhibited at numerous juried exhibitions.Here are two vases with twisting attached blocks that gives each a very sculptural facade. White lines accentuate the overall textured forms of the Oribe one and the ash-glaze against the brown clay flavor of the other lends a very earthy aura. The Oribe is 29cm.tallx11cm, signed on base, a bit shorter for the other, both in perfect condition with signed boxes.
